Favourite Tea

 My Favourite Teas

Coffee - No thanks!!!

I'm a tea girl through and through and us tea drinkers have our favourite tea, not all teas are created equal - here is an insight into the tea I love to drink the most at different times.

I drink pretty much any tea but I do have my favourites.

The strange thing is I didn't start drinking tea until I was in my late teens living in Switzerland!!

Great Tea Memories

For me, tea is now evocative of certain times and places.

I've drunk tea in Swiss mountain chalets surrounded by the winter snow, on a houseboat floating on the Mekong Delta in Vietnam, in a tent north of the Arctic Circle in Norway, as well as around my Mums kitchen table, and everywhere in between. Certain teas now provide memories good and not so good, after all, who doesn't break out the teapot when there's a crisis?

Different kinds of tea remind me of certain places or people. My Dad loves strong smokey tea, like Russian Caravan or Oolong. My husband loves chamomile and my Mum is a straight up Tetley with milk!

So in this article, I want to share with you some of my favourite teas for every day, winter and bedtime. ????

My Favourite Everyday Tea - Jasmine Green Tea

Two cups of my favourite tea Green Jasmine

This is my go to tea for everyday drinking. Sat at my desk working, pruning out in the garden and it is a great one to take when you're travelling because it doesn't require milk to make it taste decent. It also isn't too bad drunk cold, a common situation in my life, and a common theme of my favourite teas.

My Favourite Winter Tea - Rooibus Chai

Two cups of my favourite tea for winter Roibus Chai and a plate of fruit

I discovered this when we lived in Australia a few years ago and so far I have been able to find it in the USA, but not sure about the UK.

It smells divine, you can serve it with or without milk and again it isn't too bad if you drink it cold.

I often have this at bedtime in the winter, it has a lovely mellow taste with a hint of Christmas.

My Favourite Tea for Bedtime - Lavender

A cup of my favourite bedtime tea Lavender tea

I find that this one has such an interesting taste. As with many herbal teas, the scent is more powerful than the flavour, but the combination in this tea is why it is one of my favourite teas. It's caffeine free so drinking it right before bed is not going to keep you up all night.

I hope this lineup of teas has whetted your appetite for maybe something a bit out of the ordinary.

Until next time.
